Ben Berger and Ron Nahass of RSM's Family Office talk about the benefits of letting trusted outsiders handle critical business functions.

Operational excellence -- involving people, processes, technology/cybersecurity and data -- brings peace of mind to all kinds of businesses, especially family firms. While many companies can handle all of these dimensions in-house, for others it makes sense to bring in trusted outside vendors.

Ben Berger and Ron Nahass of RSM's Family Office say outsourcing can be a great solution in an era when good talent is increasingly hard to find. For example, a company's compensation and benefits can easily be handled by the right technology platforms and by consultants that complement, not replace, employees. These outside Human Resources functions were unheard-of seven years ago, but more common today. Information technology specialists, and even part-time chief financial officers, can easily come from the outside.

In this interview Berger and Nahass share their thoughts about when outsourcing makes sense, and how family firm leaders can work productively with their consultants and contractors. For more information from RSM about operational excellence and family firms, visit here.
